Folio 150. The deputy lieutenants and J.P.s of Hampshire at Winchester, to the duke of Bolton (signed by W. Powlett and others), enclosing the information of John Smith of Totton in the parish of Eling, Hants, timber merchant, dated 28 Sept., of various sightings of suspicious persons at Lyndhurst, details of those who are alleged to meet in the New Forest and exchange papers which may be prejudicial to the government, and information on a newly established club, called Mr. Green's, at Testwood House, where up to 14 disaffected persons are to meet.
