This series contains surviving entry books of the out-letters, mainly official, of Spiridion Foresti, successively consul in the Ionian Islands (which until 1797 formed a dependency on the Venetian republic) and (from 1803) minister resident to the Septinsular Republic itself. The correspondence is dated from the following places: March 1793-July 1797 and April-August 1799, Zante; September 1799-December 1803 and February 1805-July 1807, Corfu; September 1807, [at sea] off Cerigo; October 1807-September 1809, Malta; October 1809-February 1810, Zante; April 1810, Santa Marua [Levkas]; and May 1810 - January 1813, Zante. |
