Administrative / biographical background:

The South East Economic Planning Board was set up in 1965 and the South East Economic Council in 1966.

The ambit of the Board and the Council comprised Greater London, Essex, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, East and West Sussex, Surrey and Kent.

In 1979 the Board was retitled the South East Regional Board.
