Subjects covered include the third London airport, the Greater London Development Plan, a long term population and distribution study, and a survey of regional public expenditure.

The series also includes papers of the South East Planning Board and the South East Planning Council and files arising from their activities.

The South East Regional Office was set up in 1965, at the same time as the South East Economic Planning Board and the South East Economic Planning Council. It was located in London, and shared its accommodation and some of its clerical staff with the East Anglia Regional Office.
