This series consists of files raised by the Ministry of Power and the Ministry of Technology (Mintech) and re-registered by the Department of Energy. A few of the files relate to the organisation of the Ministry of Power and the transfer of functions from the Ministry of Power to Mintech and a small number deal with the policy for and employment conditions of members of nationalised industry boards. There are also files relating to the pay and appointment of specialists and professional grades in the department. The EST prefix series was initiated after the creation of the Department of Energy in 1974. At that time, files in the ESTAB series of the Ministry of Power, Mintech's E prefix series, and the FJ series of the DTI were re-registered into the EST series. |
