Sheepskin chemise binding with five brass bosses front and back covers: titled"Liber Rubeus"; over red dyed sheepskin covered boards Inscription, probably 17th cent, inside back cover"1681 bona conscientia contra ..... casus" Multiple holes and infilling probably indicate at least one re-binding re-using the old boards
