Registered files of the Welsh Department of the Ministry of Education and the Department of Education and Science relating to all policy matters pertaining to education in Wales between 1944 and 1976. Subjects covered by the files include teaching through the medium of Welsh, educational foundations maintained by the Church in Wales; and the setting up of the Welsh Joint Education Committee and the transfer of educational responsibilities to the Welsh Office by the Department of Education and Science. It is thought that the earliest files were set up following the Education Act 1944 which resulted in Welsh Education conforming more closely with the English education system. |
