Files of the Research and Intelligence (later Planning) Branch of the Ministry of Education and Department of Education and Science relating to the commissioning and support of research projects throughout the country and the identification of areas of promise or need. The series includes papers on the establishment of the National Council for Educational Technology and various policy steering groups whose remits covered the whole of the department. Among other subjects covered are the education of handicapped children, further education, audio-visual aids, educational television and the use of computers to formulate school timetables. The files in the series were initially registered in the C series but after the establishment of the Planning Branch in 1965 the P series was started. Some C series files were re-registered into it. The series includes files from both series. |
