Title: | Board of Education and successors: HM Inspectorate: Special Reports |
Description: |
Board of Education and successors HM Inspectors printed reports on diverse subjects deemed to be of special interest at the time. These reports had a restricted circulation and, in view of the destruction of the original drafts, constitute in many cases the only extant material relevant to important aspects of educational history. Subjects covered by the reports include the implementation of the free place scheme by local authorities, including Isle of Man; the teaching of specialised subjects including music, handicrafts and Welsh; the provision of school playing fields; the provision of leisure activities and in-service teacher training. The series contains one file pertaining to an HM Inspectors report on the British Embassy School in Budapest (ED 77/366). It is the only known example of an inspection of this type of school. No special reports were produced between 1949-1955. |
