Title: | Private and confiscated papers |
Note: | The provenance of most of these papers is obscure, although their association in some cases with attainted persons suggests that the papers came into the possession of the General Surveyors or the Court of Augmentations through confiscation or as exhibits in litigation. The classification by family is based on internal evidence, in some instances rather speculative, and several batches listed separately below might well be related. Further similar papers will be found widely scattered but particularly in SP 46 and SP 1 and among the fragmentary and miscellaneous items in E314/25, 80 and 89. Darcy papers found in E 314 have been transferred to SP 46. |
