The Establishments Department was renamed the Services and Establishments Department in 1930 when general executive control of the system of divisional offices, employment exchanges, and branch employment offices, was transferred to the Department.

After the end of the war in 1945 the Department was called the Organisation and Establishments Department. Some S&E files were re-registered with later O&E files.
