Title: | Exchequer: King's Remembrancer: Replications and Rejoinders, Supplementary |
Description: |
Replications and rejoinders in equity proceedings heard in the Court of Exchequer. These represent the second stage of pleading: the replication was the plaintiff's answer to the defendant's plea or answer; and the rejoinder the defendant's reply to the replication. The series consists of both unfiled replications and rejoinders, and of strays from the files of bills and answers (E 112). Replications in this series before 1700 are mostly substantive. Those from the reign of George II (1727-60), which form the bulk of the series, are formulaic, adding nothing to the details of the suit. The series includes also a few exceptions and demurrers which are likewise strays from the bill files. |
