This series consists of those debentures, receipts, warrants and writs formerly held among the records of the Treasury of the Receipt of the Exchequer which were considered to have the finest seals. All payments made out of the royal treasure in the Exchequer of Receipt were made on the authority of the King's writ or by order of the barons of the Exchequer. This series contains writs of privy seal, warrants and wardrobe debentures ordering such payments. There are also original warrants, auditors' orders, common debentures, original receipts for payments, orders for permanent charities and original orders for payments. |
