The Foreign Office participated in international conferences and in multilateral committees or councils. Conferences, in particular were often held in the aftermath of a war in order for treaties to be drawn up. Many twentieth century conferences involved heads of state and chiefs of the armed forces as well as diplomatic representation from the Foreign Office. |
