Description:

Files of case papers consisting of police and other reports for the years 1889-1930; copies of depositions and exhibits; counsel's briefs and papers; and correspondence.

The series includes material concerning many well known cases, including papers relating to Adolf Beck, Horatio Bottomley, Dr Hawley Crippen, Arthur Lynch, Emmeline Pankhurst, Frederick Seddon, Oscar Wilde and Sir Roger Casement. There are also a number of papers, from 1889 to 1892, concerning the 'Cleveland Street scandal' and some papers arising from the raid by Leander Jameson into the Transvaal in 1895.

The bulk of the papers are copies.
