Administrative / biographical background:

Between March 1962 and April 1964, control of Britain's relations with the Federation of Central Africa (Northern and Southern Rhodesia and Nyasaland) was exercised by the Central African Office (CAO). With the ending of the Federation, these functions were passed to the Central Africa Division of the Commonwealth Relations Office.
