Cover letters sent and received divided into subjects: theatre, expenditure, palaces and chapels, appointments, court proceedings, insignia, works of art (from 1883) and miscellaneous. Some special events are separately entered.

Letters in and out are both noted, along with the name of the correspondent, the date and the subject. The letters are also numbered.
