Title: Court of Common Pleas: Final Judgment Docket Books
Description:

Volumes of final judgments from posteas and inquiries for cases settled at Assizes. They were originally kept for the clerk of the judgments of the Court of Common Pleas.

They are arranged internally by regnal year and term, and give information about the county, parties, date, plea roll rotuli and the amount of damages.

The docket books of final judgments contain cross-references to plea rolls and the terms in which posteas were filed. They were evidently compiled for the clerk of the judgments, who worked in the office of the third prothonotary, and also record the transfer of posteas to the custos brevium.
