Title: | Court of Common Pleas: Prothonotaries' Docket Rolls |
Description: |
Rolls kept for the three prothonotaries of the Court of Common Pleas, and after 1838 by their successors the masters, initially probably to enable the calculation of their fees for the making of entries in the plea rolls. Until 1770 each prothonotary had his own set of rolls, although there are many gaps; thereafter there was a single set made up for the three of them in common, although none survives from 1770 to 1791. |
