Description:

Sealed parchment memoranda, or paper drafts, of the chief justice of the Court of Common Pleas, signifying the grant of offices in the court, or his acceptance of the surrender of such offices and the admission of successors.

They relate to a variety of offices, including filazers, exigenters, various clerks' offices and the office of second prothonotary, which was not in the gift of the chief justice. The engrossed versions are usually endorsed with the dates on which they were enrolled on the plea rolls, with cross-references to the appropriate rotulus numbers.
