Catalogue description Coal Commission: Administrative Files

This series contains the administrative files of the Coal Commission and cover general policy and administrative matters such as border line agreements, colliery amalgamations and dispositions, the environmental effects of subsidence, the maintenance of disused shafts, the granting of leases and licenses by the Commission and applications under various sections of the 1938 Coal Act. The records consist in part of general policy files, including various bill papers and in part of correspondence with interested companies, colliery concerns, individuals and government departments. The series also contains some papers of the Coal Mines Re-organisation Commission.
