This series contains original correspondence relating to British East Africa generally, and to Kenya, Tanganyika, Uganda and Zanzibar individually. Subject matter includes various aspects of the countries' internal, economic, cultural and administrative development, including constitutional development and their move towards independence, development and welfare schemes, education, labour, public health, scientific research and transport. A proportion of the series relates to the Mau Mau crisis in Kenya.
