Description:

Medical and surgical journal of the Mellish convict ship for 7 October 1828 to 28 April 1829 by Joseph Cook, surgeon and superintendent, during which time the said ship was employed in a voyage to New South Wales.

Folios 23-25: Surgeon's general remarks. The Guard and the convicts were embarked on the River Thames, the former consisting of 30 men and the latter 170 in the latter end of October and the first week of November [1828]. On the 2 January [1829] proceeded on the voyage from Falmouth and on the 10th anchored at Teneriffe. General remarks about weather conditions, the health of the convicts and the voyage are also recorded.
