Title: | Palatinate of Chester: Exchequer of Chester, and Courts of Great Sessions of Chester and Flint: Insolvency, Bankruptcy and Other Papers |
Description: |
Most of the documents in this series date from the early nineteenth century, and are records of the Palatinate Courts of Exchequer and Sessions at Chester. There are also a few of the Court of Great Sessions for the counties of Flint, Denbigh and Montgomery, and one or two accounts, etc, post-dating the abolition of the jurisdiction of the Palatinate courts at Chester in 1830. The records relate mainly to insolvent debtors and to civil actions arising from trespass and small debts. Many of them are precipes for the issue of writs, etc. Although the records may throw some light upon the workings of the courts, to trace proceedings in any particular case is hardly practicable at present. |
