During the 1990s, efforts were made to identify and list all the maps held by the Public Record Office Library (whether in the library rooms or in the public reading rooms) according to provenance. Items identified as being of Admiralty, Colonial Office, State Paper Office, Treasury or War Office provenance were added to ADM 7, CO 1047, SP 112, T 63 and WO 78 respectively.
