Description: |
Folios 1-752. This volume contains the central correspondence between the Audit Office and the General Board of Health. The Treasury decided that all accounts of receipt and expenditure be rendered to the Audit Office. The first half dozen folios are made up of some initial circulars and blank forms. The vast bulk of the volume are: • letters from the Audit Office chasing the General Board of Health for their accounts and vouchers • letters from the Audit Office asking that Board members attend the Office to declare to the accounts and letters pointing out omissions from the accounts and setting out queries • notices of audited and/or statements of accounts Series of Declaration Certificates. From 28 September 1852 (folio 71) the queries become more detailed specifying salaries, travelling expenses for inspectors and noting missed signatures. |
