Catalogue description Assizes: Northern Circuit: Civil Minute Books

These volumes were kept by the court associate and relate to civil business referred from the High Court of Justice and heard at nisi prius. The books do not constitute a complete series; they run from 1877 to 1904, then from 1909 to 1915, and then from 1970 to 1971, when the assize system was abolished. The whereabouts of the missing volumes is not known.The information given is the originating High Court division, the case number, the names of the plaintiff, defendant and judge, the date, time and place, and the judgment.
