Accruals: No future accruals expected
Administrative / biographical background:

The Railway Clearing House retained its own corporate identity until 24 May 1954, when it became vested in the British Transport Commission (S1 1954/139). It then continued as a department of the commission until the latter body was abolished in 1962 and was finally disbanded on 31 March 1963. The Railway Clearing House had provided a secretariat for many of the committees of the Second World War Railway Executive Committee and, although it did not become legally a part of the commission until 1954, it worked in partnership with it and its executives from their beginnings and the provision of secretarial services to the main committees of the commission continued.
