Note: The first part of a report prepared by John Bruce, Keeper of State Papers, as ordered by the Home Secretary on 1 October 1800, of records, instruments and State Papers in the Keeper's custody, to supplement Rymer's Foedera for the period covered by that work with a continuation to the accession of George II. Contents of this volume: Preliminary Observations; King Henry VII; King Henry VIII; King Edward VI; Queen Mary [I]; Queen Elizabeth [I]; King James I; King Charles I; the Inter-Regnum; King Charles II and King James II. Each reign, except that of Henry VII, is followed by a tabular appendix listing, for each of that reign's papers, the title, date, language and number of pages.
