The Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) was established on 1 April 2010 following the Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Act 2009, which received Royal Assent on 12 November 2009. The Commission was established to be responsible for conducting reviews of local authority electoral arrangements; the Commission can also conduct reviews of the structure of local government, and the external boundaries of local authorities.
