Administrative / biographical background:

The National Conservation Centre was created after National Museums and Galleries on Merseyside (now National Museums Liverpool) identified a need for a national centre for the conservation of objects in museum collections. The centre hold displays of conserved objects and demonstrations of the techniques used. The building was opened to the public in October 1996.
