The Local Better Regulation Office (LBRO) was set up as a government-owned company in May 2007 to help local authorities improve the way they enforce trading standards, environmental health, licensing and fire safety regulations. It became a non-departmental public body of the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) with statutory powers on 1 October 2008 with commencement of the Regulatory Enforcement and Sanctions Act. |
