This series contains 18 boxes holding just over 9,500 cards detailing individual Maritime Royal Artillery gunners allocated to a particular ship during the Second World War. The cards cover around 6,500 ships. Where the ship is not registered as British the nationality of the Allied ship has been noted.

This series complements the larger set of record cards in WO 436, which record the sea service details for Royal Artillery DEMS Gunners.
