This series contains Northern Groups papers relating to various diversification projects carried out by the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority following the Science and Technology Act 1965, including the Mark V radio telescope at Jodrell Bank, Cheshire and nuclear water desalination research.

The Science and Technology Act 1965, amongst other provisions, gave power to the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) to undertake research and development in non-nuclear fields on a cost recoverable basis. The files in this series contain papers on some of the more important diversification projects undertaken by the Northern Groups of UKAEA.
