Description:

Printed prize appeal from the High Court of Admiralty.

Captured place: capture of Naples.

History: ships and stores at Naples surrendered on 13 May 1815 to HM Land and Sea Forces under the command of Robert Campbell of HMS Tremendous, and restored by order of HMG without any proceedings being instituted; £150,000 was granted to be distributed to the captors.

Appellant: HMPG on behalf of the trustees for the distribution of money to the captors, officers and mariners for the ships and stores taken from the enemy and afterwards restored to the Neapolitan Government.

Respondent: Sir Charles Burrard bart, commander, and the officers and crew of HMS Grasshopper sloop, claiming under the said grant.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 16 July 1819 (folios 464-482).

Decision: against the appeal, expenses on both sides to be paid out of the sum granted.
