Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Bermuda.

Captured ship: Betsey brig (master Isaac Percival).

Nationality: American.

History: bound from Alexandria, Virginia, laden with flour; taken on 22 December 1813 by HMS Dragon (Robert Barries commanding), and brought into Bermuda.

Appellant: Silas Bullard of Boston, American citizen, for the ship on behalf of Samuel Trask and Joseph Cross junior of Portland, American citizens; and for the cargo on behalf of William K Reynolds and Co, British merchants of Halifax, Nova Scotia, as protected by a licence from the Governor of Nova Scotia.

Respondent: The captor and HMPG.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 16 May 1818 (folios 398-409) [no folios 397, 406].

Decision: against the appeal.
