Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Bermuda.

Captured ship: George brig (master Lott G Crocker).

Nationality: American.

History: bound from Alexandria [Virginia] to Cadiz, laden with flour (under a British licence); changed route for Halifax, Nova Scotia due to the blockade of Chesapeake; taken on 23 December 1813 by HMS Acteon (Bertie Cornelius Caton commanding), and brought into Bermuda.

Appellant: Silas Bullard of Boston the supercargo and joint owner for the ship on behalf of Messrs Barret, Rich and Bridge of Boston, American citizens; and for the cargo on behalf of himself and Messrs William K Reynolds and Co, British merchants of Halifax, Nova Scotia, as protected by a licence from the Governor of Nova Scotia.

Respondent: The captor and HMPG.
