Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Bermuda.

Captured ship: Baltic Trader (master Abner Snow).

Nationality: American.

History: bound from Alexandria, Colombia, Virginia to Cadiz, laden with flour (under a British licence); taken on 29 August 1814 by HMS Sea Horse (James Alexander Gordon commanding), part of HM Land and Sea Forces taking possession of Alexandria, and brought into Bermuda.

Appellant: The master for the ship and cargo on behalf of Abraham Barker and others, American citizens, protected by licence from HM Secretary of State.

Respondent: The captor and HMPG.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 9 May April 1818 (folios 353-381) [no folios 362, 368, 371, 377].

Decision: ship and cargo to be restored.
