Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Nova Scotia.

Captured place: capture of Moose Island and Machias, Maine.

History: goods of British origin, captured at Moose Island on 11 July 1814 by HM Land and Sea Forces under Lt Colonel Andrew Pilkington and Sir Thomas Masterman Hardy.

Appellant: Jabez Moury of Moose Island for goods, wares and merchandise seized on the island, on behalf of George Brown, Robert Parker and other British merchants.

Respondent: The Crown, HMPG and the captors.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 25 April 1818 (folios 282-289a) [no folio 288, folios 289 and 289a].

Decision: further proofs insufficient; goods or bills of exchange to the restored to the claimant, subject to payment of the respondents expenses.
