Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Malta.

Captured ship: Hardy (master Adrien Marais).

Nationality: French.

History: bound from Le Havre to Genoa, laden with flour and wheat; taken on 25 June 1815 by HMS Ajax (George Mundy commanding), and brought into Malta.

Appellant: James Frederick Perrin of Clausie, Perrin and Bodman, merchants of London, for the ship on behalf of Noel Francois Hardy of Dieppe, French subject; and Nathaniel Parker, partner in Messrs Scott, Garnett and Palmer, merchants of London, for the cargo on behalf of Messrs Truffaut and Sons of Pintoise, French subjects.

Respondent: The captor.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 16 April 1818 (folios 244-257).

Decision: against the appeals for both ship and cargo.
