Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Barbados.

Captured ship: Charles (master Pierre Guillaume La Moisse).

Nationality: French.

History: bound from Le Havre to Guadeloupe, laden with tiles, bricks and deals; taken on 12 August 1815 and brought into Barbados.

Appellant: John Peter de Roure of John Peter de Roure and Co of the city of London for the ship and cargo on behalf of Messrs Guillaume de Roure and Co of Havre de Grace, French subjects.

Rear Admiral Sir Philip Charles Durham and Lieutenant General Sir James Leith, commanders of Sea and Land Forces in the Leeward Islands and HMPG.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 10 December 1817 (folios 28-36) [no folio 27].

Decision: further hearing to stand over for present.
