Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Gibraltar.

Captured ship: Hepsa (master William A Bailey).

Nationality: American.

History: bound from New York to Lisbon, laden with flour, rye, grain and Indian corn [maize]; taken on 22 June 1813 by HMS Zenobia (Richard Foley commanding), and brought into Gibraltar.

Appellant: The master and James P Kingston junior, supercargo, for the ship and cargo on behalf of several American and British subjects, it being under a HM licence.

Respondent: The captor and HMPG.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 20 March 1817 (folios 246-253).

Decision: report referred back to the registrar for reconsideration.
