Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of the Bahamas.

Captured ship: Oscar (master Johan Anthon Wolcky).

Nationality: Swedish.

History: bound from Newport, Rhode Island to Havana, laden with beef, pork, flour, soap, lard and butter; taken by the privateers Brilliant (William Smith commanding) and Dash (John Pinder commanding), and brought into Nassau.

Appellant: 1) The captors.

Respondent: The master for the ship on behalf of himself; and Frederick Richard Thorbeck, supercargo for the cargo on behalf of Messrs Unse Wetter and Co of Gottenberg, all Swedish subjects; and cross-suit between the same parties.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 7 March 1816 (folios 341-365).

Decision: against the appeal of the captors.
