Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Nova Scotia.

Captured ship: Ulysses (master Samuel Hill).

Nationality: American.

History: bound from Savannah, Georgia to France, laden with cotton; taken on 30 June 1813 by HMS Majestic (John Hayes commanding), and brought into Halifax.

Appellant: HMS Rota (Philip Somerville commanding), HMS Pheasant (John Palmer commanding), HMS Thistle (James Karney White commanding) and HMS Trinculo (Alexander Renny commanding).

Respondent: The captor and HMS Ringdove (William Dowers commanding).

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 4 March 1816 (folios 339-340).

Decision: allegation and exhibits admitted to proof.
