Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Antigua.

Captured ship: Charles XII (master Wallam Brunn).

Nationality: Swedish.

History: bound from Phildalphia to St Bartholomew, laden with corn, flour etc; taken on 27 September 1812 by HMS Mercury (Clement Milward commanding), and brought into Antigua.

Appellant: John Cowie merchant of London for John William Cox, Swedish subject of St Bartholomew.

Respondent: The captor and HMPG.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 22 February 1816 (folios 267-278).

Decision: ship and cargo to be restored subject to further proof.
