Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Nova Scotia.

Captured ship: Catalina Patriota (master Jacinto Riba).

Nationality: Spanish.

History: bound from Boston to Lisbon, laden with beef and staves; taken on 15 September 1813 by HMS Shannon (Humphrey Fleming Senhouse commanding), and brought into Halifax.

Appellant: The captor and HMPG.

The master for the ship and cargo on behalf of himself and Domingo Dages, Spanish subject.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 25 January 1816 (folios 56-93).

Decision: against the appeal; captor's expenses allowed as a charge on the ship and cargo.
