Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Bermuda.

Captured ship: Christina (master Andrew Arfvidson).

Nationality: Swedish.

History: bound from Alexandria, Virginia (with a licence) to Halifax, Nova Scotia, laden with flour and bread; taken on 3 March 1813 by HMS Marlborough (Charles Bayntun Hodgson Ross commanding), and brought into Bermuda.

Appellant: William Murdoch merchant of London for the ship on behalf of the master, and for the cargo on behalf of Frederick John Lindwall merchant of Carlscrona, both Swedish subjects protected by licence granted by Sir John Coape Sherbrooke, Lieutenant-Governor of Nova Scotia.

Respondent: The captor and others employed in the blockade of the Chesapeake and HMPG.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 2 March 1815 (folios 477-489).

Decision: For the original sentence, condemning the ship and cargo as good and lawful prize.
