Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Nova Scotia.

Captured ship: Santa Cecilia (master Manuel Jose Periere or Pereira).

Nationality: Portuguese.

History: bound from Lisbon to New Bedford, Connecticut, laden with salt and dry goods; taken on 14 September 1813 by HMS Wasp (Thomas Everard commanding), and brought into Halifax.

Appellant: The master for the ship and cargo as Portuguese property on behalf of Ferdinand Joze de Silva merchant of Lisbon.

Respondent: The captor and HMPG.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 27 April 1815 (folios 74-85) [no folios 78, 86].

Decision: ship and cargo to be restored, subject to further proof.
