Description:

Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Madras.

Captured place: capture of Banda Neira and its dependencies.

History: following the capture of the settlement by HM Land and Sea Forces on 9 August 1810, mace and cloves were put on board HMS Caroline and HMS Baracouda and carried into Madras as prize.

Appellant: Christopher Cole (commander HMS Caroline), Charles Foote (commander HMS Piedmontaise), Richard Keenah (HMS Barracouta), Captain George Lennox commanding a detachment of the East India Company's Madras regiment, and officers, seamen and soldiers under their command.

Respondent: The Crown and HMPG.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 1 December 1813 (folios 270-293) [no folios 274, 278, 280, 282, 291].

Decision: against the appeal; appellant's expenses to be paid out of proceeds.
