Description:

Printed prize appeal from the High Court of Admiralty.

Captured ship: Charlotta (master Johan Martin Schroeder).

Nationality: Rostock.

History: bound from Rostock to a port in Russia, laden with wine, brandy, anchovies and almonds; taken on 30 April 1809 by HMS Tartar (Joseph Baker commanding) in sight of HMS Stately (James Whitley Deans Dundas commanding), and brought into the River Thames.

Appellant: Joseph Baker, commander of HMS Tartar, as actual captor.

Deans Dundas, commander of HMS Stately, asserting an interest as joint captor.

Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 26 June 1813 (folios 66-74).

Decision: against the appeal, expenses on both sides to be paid out of proceeds.
